Heather Roulston Ettinger Joins Board of Directors for The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland

The Board of Directors for the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has elected a new member, Heather Roulston Ettinger. As a partner and Director of Fairport Asset Management, LLC, Ms. Ettinger applies more than 20 years of financial industry experience to her work assisting clients in achieving their financial planning and investment management goals. The announcement was made by the Foundation’s Board Chair Randell McShepard.

Fairport Asset Management was formed as a merger between The Hickory Group and Roulston & Company, Inc. where Ms. Ettinger had served as Principal and Director since 1987. She previously worked in various positions at Roulston & Company, including Director of Investment Management Sales and Director of Trading. Prior to that, she worked for three years as Equity Sales Trader at Jefferies & Company in Boston, Massachusetts.

Active in women’s organizations for many years, Ms. Ettinger is deeply committed to advancing the interests of women and girls through financial education and strategic charitable giving. In 1999, she started “Solutions for Women™”, a series of seminars presented by Fairport Asset Management to educate and enlighten women on issues surrounding investing, financial planning and socially responsible philanthropic giving. In 1990, she co-founded “Woman Managing Money,” a project of the Women’s Community Foundation.

Ms. Ettinger is also active in her Alma Mater, Laurel School, where she has served as Board President and continues to serve on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Committee on Trustees. Her extensive community involvement includes membership on the Boards for Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and Hudson Metals Inc. She was very proud to cho-chair a committee on youth mentorship and leadership for the Cleveland Sports Commission’s project for the Women’s NCAA Final Four. also serves on the Planned Giving Council of the Cleveland Museum of Art and as a Board member of In Counsel With Women.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Ms. Ettinger has earned significant recognition of her accomplishments, including Crains Cleveland Business’ “Women of Influence” award, Northern Ohio Live’s “Rainmaker” award, Kaleidoscope Magazine’s “Women Who Give Back” award as well as the YMCA of Greater Cleveland’s “Women of Achievement” award. She currently resides in Shaker Heights with her husband Jeff and their three children.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland serves as a grantmaker, collaborator and advocate for non-profit organizations primarily focused on addressing causes and consequences of poverty. In 2006, the Sisters of Charity Foundation joined with the Saint Ann Foundation - America’s first “healthcare conversion” foundation - to form a single organization. The combined Foundation has awarded more than $52 million in grants through 2006.

Current funding priorities for the Sisters of Charity Foundation across Cuyahoga County include initiatives to reduce chronic homelessness through permanent supportive housing and reduce health disparities by improving health literacy. Special emphasis is given to Cleveland’s Central neighborhood where disparities in health and education are among the city’s highest.

The Foundation also works to build awareness of the many contributions of Catholic women religious and to support their vital health and human service ministries supports congregations of Catholic women religious (primarily in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and South Carolina). In addition, local efforts responding to basic human needs such as food or clothing are eligible for the annual Good Samaritan grant program.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland was established by the Sisters of Charity Health System in 1996 through sale proceeds involving St. Vincent Charity Hospital, which has been located in the Central Neighborhood for more than 145 years.

The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine established the Saint Ann Foundation in 1973 with funds from the sale of Saint Ann Hospital which served Cleveland women and children for 100 years.
