A Prayer for the City

Nurture, O Saving God,
The city in which we live and toil
And all those who live in it.

Inspire, Creator,
With constant dedication and charity
Those who work for the City’s wholeness.

Forgive, Divine Spirit,
Those who harm it;
Keep us from their negative tendencies.

Inspire us, O God,
To find solutions to strengthen ourselves,
Our health and our neighborhoods.
Lead us to improve our human relationships.

Loving God, guide us to compassion
For those most in need,
Those who are homeless or neglected
And all children in need or danger.

Take care, saving God
Of all who struggle for the good of the City
And grant hope, abundance and peace to all.

Peace to the City!
Peace to those who dwell within!
